Questions raised on Forest Range Officer recruitment, 200 RTIs filed

Questions have been raised on the Forest Range Officer recruitment of the State Public Service Commission. In the recruitment of 45 posts, only seven candidates have passed, more than 200 candidates have sought various information through RTI regarding answer sheets and recruitment process. The students of Horticulture University Nauni are also angry due to not getting the recruitment quota.

Advertisement for the recruitment of Range Forest Officer was released in March 2021. 37 posts were reserved for those studying B.Sc. Forestry and 8 posts for non-B.Sc. Forestry students. Candidates in the age group of 21 to 31 years as on January 1, 2021 were eligible for this. The recruitment exam for the posts of Range Forest Officer was held in January 2022. On May 11, the Public Service Commission released its result.

Two candidates from B.Sc Forestry and five from Non B.Sc. Forestry have been selected for the post of Range Forest Officer. About 200 candidates who were not selected in the recruitment examination have now raised questions on the recruitment process. Information has been sought from the Commission through RTI regarding the examination of answer sheets, the process of making merit, standards of failure. Many candidates have given information about this in Amar Ujala Helpline. Candidates say that the recruitment process has not been completed in a transparent manner. The passing of only two candidates in B.Sc Forestry is raising many doubts. The candidates have demanded the commission officials to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter. On the other hand, Ajay Kumar, Chairman, Public Service Commission said that a letter has been sent to the government to simplify the rules of range forest recruitment. Due to strict rules, more candidates are not able to participate in the recruitment. Forestry syllabus also needs to be seen. The fixation of marks should also be reconsidered. A letter has been written to the government giving information about all the points.
