Cyber crime is continuously increasing in Himachal Pradesh. Due to the closure of 2 cyber stations in Himachal, cyber criminals have got freedom to loot in the state. These police stations were opened so that the people of Himachal Pradesh do not have to come to the Shimla Cyber Police Station to file complaints.
Recently a fake account of Governor Rajendra Vishvanath Arlekar was created that was asking for money from people.
In the year 2017, 972 people were victims of fraud while in 2022, the figure increased to 9,110. Data of people who have been cheated by cyber criminals has been released. Cyber criminals have cheated 1,723 people in the year 2017, 3,057 in the year 2019, 6,451 in 2020 and 9,110 in the year 2022.
