Himachal Pradesh High Court has banned the operation of the food cafe in the historic Town Hall of Shimla. The court ordered the food court operator Devyani International Company not to operate the food café in the Town Hall till the next hearing. A division bench of Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua said that the Town Hall is a very prestigious historical place of Shimla city. It was recently renovated at huge expense with the help of the Asian Development Bank.
High Court stated that the historic property was meant to be used by a high end cafe and said the current running cafe’s in the hall were not high end.
