The Himachal Pradesh Police Department’s B-1 examination for promotions from constable to head constable and assistant sub-inspector, which was cancelled on Sunday due to a website crash, will now be conducted on November 9. The online examination was disrupted when servers failed, causing computers to hang during the test.
The examination was being conducted after a gap of eight years, with test centers established across all districts of the state. A total of 4,461 personnel had appeared for the exam when the technical failure occurred. The state police headquarters has expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to candidates due to the exam cancellation.
The rescheduling comes as a relief to thousands of police personnel who had prepared for the promotional examination, though the technical glitch has raised questions about the preparedness of the testing infrastructure for such critical examinations.
