Himachal Pradesh is expected to witness a change in weather conditions due to an active western disturbance, with forecasts indicating rain and snowfall in several parts of the state over the next two days. On Thursday, the state capital Shimla and other areas experienced sunny weather, while moderate fog was recorded in Sundernagar and light fog in Mandi and Bilaspur. Minimum temperatures dropped below 10 degrees Celsius at seven locations across the state.
According to the Meteorological Centre Shimla, a new western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from November 3. Under its influence, light rain and snowfall is expected at one or two places on November 4 and at several locations across the state on November 5. The forecast predicts rain and snowfall in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti districts. Weather is expected to remain clear from October 31 to November 3 and again on November 6.
No significant change in minimum temperature is expected over the next 2-3 days. Subsequently, minimum temperatures may gradually drop by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the following 2-3 days. Maximum temperatures are likely to gradually decrease by 4-5 degrees Celsius over the next 2-3 days.
Minimum temperatures recorded across the state include Shimla 10.5°C, Sundernagar 12.0°C, Bhuntar 9.0°C, Kalpa 4.1°C, Dharamshala 17.8°C, Una 15.5°C, Nahan 15.1°C, Keylong 0.1°C, Palampur 10.0°C, Solan 12.4°C, Manali 5.9°C, Kangra 13.0°C, Mandi 13.2°C, Bilaspur 15.5°C, Hamirpur 13.0°C, Jubbarhatti 13.2°C, Kufri 10.2°C, Kukumseri -1.2°C, Narkanda 7.5°C, Bharmour 9.4°C, Reckong Peo 7.2°C, Seobagh 7.8°C, Barthin 13.4°C, Kasauli 12.5°C, Paonta Sahib 20.0°C, Tabo -0.8°C, and Bajaura 10.9°C.
October witnessed 174 percent excess rainfall compared to normal. From October 1 to 30, the state received 68.5 mm of rainfall against the normal 25 mm. All districts in the state recorded above-normal rainfall during this period.
