The Public Works Department (PWD) has sought permission from the government for creating yellow line parking slots on the busy Cart Road. The Municipal Corporation is planning to float tenders and auction yellow line parking slots on its roads in the next few days. Under the initiative, a yellow line will be drawn along the road where there’s a possibility of parking vehicles without disrupting the flow of traffic. The move will create a total of around 2,000 parking slots on MC roads and Cart Road.
“We have capped the charges at Rs 800 plus GST per month. The contractor can’t charge more than this amount from the people,” said Kohli. The MC has identified 1,342 slots for yellow line parking on its roads. “The availability of the parking slots will provide major relief to the people in the city. Also, it will help regulate the traffic better,” said MC Commissioner Ashish Kohli.
