Adventure sports enthusiasts coming from India and abroad will now be able to enjoy skiing for the first time in Himachal Pradesh for six months of the year. Preparations are on to start skiing on the highest Chanshal peak of Shimla district. The technical committee of the government has found Chanshal Peak suitable for this during the inspection. In about a week, the committee will submit its report to the tourism department, after which the government will issue a notification to start skiing here.

Chanshal Peak is located about 158 ​​km from the capital Shimla. Snowfall starts on this peak at 14,830 feet from October. Till May, there is snow from eight to 12 feet, which is perfectly suitable for skiing. Under the standards, for skiing, it is necessary to have a slope of about two kilometers with a slope of 25 to 30 degrees. Chanshal Peak also has a slope of 25 to 30 degrees and is up to five kilometers in length. Skiing takes place in Solangnala in Manali and Narkanda in Shimla, but in both the places the snow melts completely in April.

Director of Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Institute Manali Avinash Negi said that on the request of the Tourism Department, the Technical Committee has inspected Chanshal Peak to explore the possibility of skiing. The slope has been found suitable for skiing on inspection. There is a possibility of skiing here for about six months in a year. The inspection report will be submitted to the tourism department in a week. The next action will be taken by the tourism department and the government.
