I will live for ten or fifteen more years : Dalai Lama in Dharamsala

Dalai Lama

Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said – I am about 87 years old. But according to a prediction, I may still live another ten or fifteen years. I will try my best, but I urge you all to work hard too.

We need to stay healthy and raise healthy children who will be able to carry forward our culture and traditions. He said this at the 25th Shotan Mahotsav and the Middle Way Approach Conference in the courtyard of the main Buddhist temple of McLeodganj.

The conference was attended by 260 delegates from eight Oprah Groups and 70 from Middle Marg. The Dalai Lama said that coming into exile as refugees has created unexpected opportunities. Despite being few in number, Tibetans in exile have not only been able to keep their religion and culture alive, they have also found that many people around the world are interested in the heritage they have preserved.

He noted that the establishment of separate Tibetan schools in exile contributed to the preservation of Tibetan religion and culture. Today scientists treat these traditions with interest and respect. The quality of Tibetan knowledge cannot be destroyed by Chinese hostility.
