People of Himachali origin will get priority in small power projects to be set up in Himachal Pradesh. New energy policy is going to be made for 15 years. On December 27, 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the new energy policy in Mandi. Himachal’s new energy policy will be approved in the cabinet meeting on December 20. The Energy Department has made all the preparations to take the policy in the cabinet meeting. On Friday also, the round of meetings in this regard continued in the Secretariat. Energy Minister Sukhram Chaudhary and Additional Chief Secretary RD Dhiman discussed the new policy with the officials. In Himachal’s new energy policy, electricity generation will be promoted by lifting water from the pump. Concessions will be given to the investors who generate electricity by lifting water from the pump. In this, people of Himachali origin will be given priority over people from outside states. Several provisions are being made in the new policy to encourage solar power generation. Himachal had formulated an energy policy in the year 2006. In the last few years, changes have been made in it as per the need. Now it is being changed after 15 years. Energy Minister Sukhram Chaudhary said that in the new energy policy of the state, preparations have been made for more exploitation of the hydel project. The policy has been prepared keeping in mind the interests of the people of the state including investors. The rules have been simplified. A presentation will be made in this regard in the cabinet meeting.
