Heavy snowfall in Himachal still did not bring normalcy, some roads stalled and electricity disappeared somewhere

Due to the heavy snowfall in the state, life has not recovered so far. In Himachal Pradesh, 416 roads, 446 power transformers and 161 drinking water schemes are still stalled. Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, Shimla, Kinnaur, Chamba and Sirmaur districts are facing troubles due to heavy rain and snowfall in the past. The capital Shimla and Kufri also received snowfall on Tuesday night. Rain was recorded in Solan, Nahan and Paonta Sahib. The weather is forecast to remain clear in Himachal till January 15. There is a possibility of rain and snow again due to the active western disturbance from January 16. The minimum temperature in Keylong on Tuesday night was minus 16.5 and the maximum temperature on Wednesday was minus 5.0 degree Celsius. The weather remained clear in most areas of the state on Wednesday. Maximum temperature in Bilaspur 22.0, Sundernagar 21.5, Una-Hamirpur 20.4, Kangra 19.3, Dharamsala 18.8, Bhuntar 16.7, Nahan 16.3, Chamba 15.4, Shimla 8.4, Dalhousie 7.5, Kufri 3.7, Kalpa 1.0 and Keylong recorded minus 5.0 degree Celsius. On the other hand, till Wednesday evening, the maximum number of 153 vehicular traffic was stalled in Lahaul-Spiti, 146 in Shimla, 45 in Chamba, 29 in Kullu, 13 in Kinnaur, 26 in Mandi and four in Sirmaur district. Apart from this, 137 power transformers remained closed in Chamba, 104 in Mandi, 83 in Shimla, 66 in Kullu, 47 in Sirmaur and nine in Lahaul-Spiti district. Most of the drinking water schemes were affected in Shimla 79, 38 in Sirmaur, 30 in Lahaul-Spiti and 14 in Chamba. On Wednesday, nine kutcha houses and nine cowsheds were also damaged in the state. At the same time, five cattle died due to lightning in Manaria (Marhidhar) of Nehar Swar, Gram Panchayat of Nahan development block. The process of snowfall continued in the upper areas of the district, Churdhar, Haripurdhar and adjoining areas on Wednesday as well. Haripurdhar received five inches of fresh snowfall. The BRO has cleared the snow from Manali-Solanganala to Sissu. Tourist vehicles have also started reaching Solanganala. National Highway 305 still remains a cause of concern for the people. People have to walk for 15 kilometers in the snow.
