For the construction of parking in the urban bodies of Himachal Pradesh, now the state government will spend 75 percent of the amount, while the urban bodies will spend 25 percent. Earlier, for the construction of parking, the government had to spend 50 percent and the same amount was spent by the urban bodies. The state government has issued its notification. Himachal Pradesh has 57 urban bodies and five municipal corporations. The problem of parking is increasing day by day. Himachal is an important state from the point of view of tourism. Thousands of tourists arrive everyday. Parking is a problem in tourist places like Shimla, Manali, McLeodganj, Dalhousie, Khajjiar.
The state government is focusing on the construction of parking in urban areas. Right now people have to park their vehicles on the side of the road due to less parking. However, the state government has given permission to the buildings built along the road to make parking in one floor. Apart from this, approval has been given to erect an iron infrastructure to park the vehicle in the setback. Despite this, people are compelled to park their vehicles on the side of the road when there are more vehicles. The government believes that more and more parking will be constructed by providing more funds to the municipal bodies.
