The Assistant Election Officer has suspended six employees of the polling party for taking EVMs to the strong room in a private vehicle from polling booth number-49 Dattanagar in Rampur assembly constituency. Of these, four are working in the education department and two are police personnel. This action has been taken under Section 134 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
On the other hand, the Congress has sent a complaint letter to the Chief Electoral Officer demanding appropriate action in the matter. Among the suspended employees are PRO Jagatram Higher Education Department Baur Nerwa School, PO Indrapal Higher Education Department Malandi School Tehsil Kumarsain, APRO Rajesh Kumar Higher Education Department Kelvi School Tehsil Theog, PO Pradeep Kumar Elementary Education Department Nerwa and police personnel Govardhan Singh of Polling Party No. 146 suspended. and Vipin are included.
Assistant Returning Officer Surendra Mohan said that the polling personnel posted in the polling booth were illegally bringing EVMs and VVPATs in private vehicles. The polling party has violated the directions of the Election Commission of India.
