Heli taxi service connecting Shimla’s Sanjauli with Rampur will commence on October 21, also extending aerial connectivity to Rekong Peo in Kinnaur district. The service will operate three days a week — Monday, Friday, and Saturday — and will be operated by Pawan Hans Limited under the regional connectivity scheme UDAN.
The service is aimed at providing residents of remote and difficult terrain areas with an alternative mode of transport, significantly reducing travel time between these destinations.
Flight schedule
The heli taxi will depart Sanjauli at 9:55 AM, arriving at Rampur at 10:30 AM. It will then proceed to Rekong Peo, departing Rampur at 10:50 AM and landing at Rekong Peo at 11:25 AM. The return leg will leave Rekong Peo at 11:30 AM, reaching Rampur at 12:05 PM, before departing Rampur at 12:10 PM and arriving back at Sanjauli by 12:45 PM.
Announcement and background
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu had announced the service following a visit to the Rampur assembly constituency, during which he interacted with local residents and heard their concerns regarding transport connectivity. The heli taxi was announced as a direct response to the need for better aerial linkage in the region’s difficult geography.
