A press conference was held at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on Friday in the committee hall of the hospital regarding contrast CT scan. Dr. Janak Raj, Senior Medical Superintendent of the hospital presided over the talks. Under this, now the facility of contrast injection in contrast CT scan will be made available free of cost to the patients suffering from serious diseases in IGMC. The process of contrast CT scan is usually adopted to check for serious disease in any part of the body. In this procedure, the patient is injected into the blood through contrast (medicine) injection and after that a city scan is done to check the disease. But the state government has taken this special step to benefit the patients other than the card holders. Normally, patients have to pay two thousand rupees for this injection in medical drug shops.
