Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly will convene its monsoon session from August 21, 2026, with the official notification issued on August 1 following Governor Kavindra Gupta’s order dated July 30. The session, which is the 12th sitting of the 14th Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, has been called under Article 174(1) of the Constitution of India and will run until September 3, with a total of 10 sittings scheduled.
The session will commence at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 21, at the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly building in Shimla. Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania confirmed that a sitting will also be held on Saturday, August 22 — an exception to the usual schedule. However, no sittings will be held on August 28 (Raksha Bandhan), August 29 (Saturday), or August 30 (Sunday). August 27 has been designated as a private members’ business day.
The notification has been circulated to all MLAs, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Himachal Pradesh, the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition, all heads of departments, and other concerned officials. The notification bears the signature of Assembly Secretary Yash Pal Sharma. Members can now submit notices related to their constituencies both offline and online to the Assembly Secretariat.
The session is expected to be politically significant. The state government is likely to bring forward key bills, financial proposals, and matters of public interest. The opposition, meanwhile, is preparing to raise issues around disaster management, roads, power, water supply, health, education, and unemployment — setting the stage for what could be a combative session with sharp exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches.
