The nine kilometer journey from Himachal Pradesh’s tourist town Dharamsala to Dalai Lama’s city McLeodganj will now take five minutes. Tourists will get rid of long jams. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur will inaugurate the Dharamsala-McLeodganj ropeway, built at a cost of about 200 crores, on Wednesday. A person will have to pay Rs. 340 for one-way up and down the ropeway from Kotwali to McLeodganj. The Chief Minister will inaugurate the ropeway and facilitate thousands of people. Cafeterias have been made for the passengers traveling on the ropeway to eat and drink at both the terminals. Parking will also be available.
According to the information, the ropeway of the Italian company will transport eight people from Dharamsala to McLeodganj in a trolley. 18 trolleys have been installed in the ropeway. About 800 people can enjoy the journey in an hour. This ropeway is the country’s first equipped with modern technology and facilities. The journey of this ropeway without gear is very safe. This will also save electricity over time. People traveling in the ropeway will be able to admire the beauty of Dharamshala city from all sides. Let us inform that the work of Dharamshala ropeway started in the year 2017 and its work was proposed to be completed by December 2019, but due to Corona epidemic and many other reasons, now its work was completed after about two years. District Tourism Officer Prithi Pal Singh said that the fare for the ropeway journey has been fixed by the department and Tata Company.
