In Himachal Pradesh capital Shimla, seven new wards have been formed just before the municipal elections. There will now be a total of 41 wards of the Municipal Corporation in the city. Now their number was 34. The district administration has issued its draft after the instructions received by the Election Commission regarding the delimitation of the wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation. Now suggestions and objections of the public will be registered on these. In the city, new wards have been created by breaking Ruldubhatta, Krishnanagar, Kasumpti, Chhota Shimla, Sanjauli, Vikasnagar, Khalini wards. According to the district administration, new wards have been formed from Ruldubhatta to Shankli, Krishnanagar to Lower Krishnanagar, Sanjauli Chowk to Dhingudhar, Chhota Shimla to Brockhost, Vikasnagar to Lower Vikasnagar, Khalini to Lower Khalini. Efforts have been made in the reorganization of the wards that the population of all the wards should be same. Krishnanagar, The population of wards like Khalini and Vikasnagar was two to three times more than that of Kasumpti and Upper Dhali. Now these big wards have been divided into two parts. There are also many such wards which have not been divided into two, but their boundaries have been changed. New boundaries of wards like Nabha, Ruldubhatta, Lower Bazar, Rambazar and Dhali have also been fixed.
On this proposal, the people of the city can register their suggestions and objections from Friday. This process will continue till February 17. People will be able to give their written suggestions and objections in the office of the Deputy Commissioner. The draft proposal of delimitation of wards is also available on the official website of Deputy Commissioner Shimla http://hpshimla.nic.in. DC Aditya Negi while releasing the preamble for re-delimitation of wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation said that as per the process of general election of Municipal Corporation Shimla, the draft of delimitation of wards of Shimla Municipal Corporation has been prepared as per the instructions of State Election Commission. DC informed that earlier the number of wards in Shimla Municipal Corporation was 34. It has now been increased to 41. This preamble is available to the public in the office of the Deputy Commissioner and the Municipal Corporation.
