The state government has fixed the minimum fare of Rs 5 for traveling in Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) and private buses. 14 days after getting the approval of the cabinet, the state government has issued a notification in this regard. Now the passengers will have to pay five rupees for traveling 2kms. Earlier, passengers had to pay a minimum fare of Rs 7 for traveling 3kms. These orders have been issued by Principal Secretary Transport RD Najim.
After paying the minimum fare of Rs 5 for two kilometers, the passengers will be charged Rs 2 and 19 paise per kilometer. If someone wants to travel three kilometers, then they will have to pay a fare of seven rupees. At the same time, State President of Private Bus Operators Union Rajesh Parashar said that the government has only done the work of kicking the private bus operators on the stomach for the politics of votes. When the price of everything from fuel has increased, the fare should increase instead of decreasing. On this matter, the private bus operator union opposes the government to increase the minimum fare from seven to five rupees.
Against this, private bus operators will go to court. He said that 50 per cent rebate in fare has been given to women in Transport Corporation buses. Private bus operators have gone to court regarding this matter. To avenge this, the government has reduced the minimum fare to five rupees. He said that a meeting of private bus operators is being called within two to three days. In this, a decision will be taken not to run private buses. It is worth noting that in Himachal Road Transport Corporation buses, women are being given 50 percent rebate in the fare within the state. Now the minimum fare in government and private buses has also been reduced to Rs. 5
