Ministers' travel allowance raised to ₹25 per km, daily allowance increased to ₹2,500

Himachal Pradesh government has revised travel and daily allowance rules for ministers, notifying increased rates under amendments to the Himachal Pradesh Ministers’ Travel Allowance Rules, 2000.

Under the revised provisions, ministers will now receive mileage allowance at ₹25 per kilometer for road travel in both hilly and plain areas, up from the previous rate of ₹18 per kilometer. The daily allowance during tours and official visits has been increased from ₹1,800 to ₹2,500.

The General Administration Department secretary issued the notification implementing the changes, which have been made under sections 14 and 15 of the Salary and Allowances of Ministers Act, 2000. The amendments ensure payments are aligned with increased travel expenses.

The revised rules, formally titled Himachal Pradesh Ministers’ Travel Allowance (Amendment) Rules, 2025, came into effect immediately upon notification. The increased rates apply to ministerial travel by road or other modes of transport across the state.

The modification in applicable rates represents a significant enhancement in travel allowances, reflecting adjustments for inflation and current transportation costs that ministers incur during official duties and constituency visits.
