Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekar has come forward to help people affected by natural disasters in Mandi and Kullu districts. The actress has provided relief material to over 400 disaster-affected people in Saraj and Sundernagar areas of Mandi district and Banjar area of Kullu district through the Bharat Disaster Relief Foundation (BDRF) NGO. The relief includes blankets, solar panel lights and sweaters for school children.
During last year’s rains, heavy loss of life and property occurred in natural disasters in Mandi and Kullu districts. After seeing the pictures and videos that emerged during this period, Bhumi Pednekar had assured to help the affected people. Seeing the relief work carried out by Nikhil Saini, Yash Gupta and other youth of Balh sub-division during the disaster, Bhumi Pednekar contacted them and obtained a list of affected families.
After receiving the list, Bhumi Pednekar sent BDRF NGO members to Mandi. Relief material was purchased at local level and delivered to affected people in Saraj, Sundernagar and Banjar areas. Blankets have also been given to the management of Civil Hospital Banjar.
The actress has also promised to adopt a government school most affected by the disaster so that school repairs and better arrangements for children’s education can be made. Relief was provided through a cradle for the victims of the massive fire that occurred last month in Jhaniyar village of Nohanda panchayat in Banjar sub-division of Kullu district.
