As Himachal Pradesh held the second phase of its panchayat elections on Thursday, centenarian voters across the state turned out at polling booths, offering a remarkable display of democratic commitment.

The most notable among them was 116-year-old Khadku Ram of Ward No. 2, Panchayat Dashmal in Hamirpur, who made his way to the polling booth and cast his vote. He is widely believed to be the oldest voter in the state. His participation drew praise from Bhoranj SDM Shashipal Sharma, who visited the booth to acknowledge the elderly voter’s spirit.

Several other voters aged above 100 also turned up at their respective polling centres during the phase, inspiring younger voters with their dedication to the electoral process.

Note: The 116-year age figure is as per the voter roll claim reported; it has not been independently verified.
