Himachal Pradesh government has assigned the additional charge of Chief Secretary to Kamlesh Kumar Pant, a 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, with immediate effect. The order, issued by the Governor, states that the appointment has been made in public interest.
Pant currently serves as Additional Chief Secretary (Revenue) and Financial Commissioner (Revenue) in the state government. He also holds the additional portfolios of Additional Chief Secretary for Forest, Home, and Vigilance departments, and serves as Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board. The additional charge of Chief Secretary now adds to his already extensive responsibilities.
A seasoned administrator with decades of experience across key departments, Pant has previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Kangra and has spent considerable time on central deputation. His appointment to the state’s top bureaucratic post is seen as a recognition of his long administrative tenure and familiarity with the functioning of the Himachal government.
Following the announcement, officers and colleagues called on Pant at his office to congratulate him. Sources indicate that the orders were processed late at night, and Pant had also visited the Chief Minister’s residence, though the official order was released the following day.
