The air of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, is better to breathe than other cities of the state. Shimla’s air quality index is better than Manali and Dharamshala in the state. Talking about the air quality, Shimla, Dharamshala, Manali, Sundernagar and Parwanoo are in good condition in the state. On the other hand, Una, Dumtal, Paonta Sahib, Kala Amb, Barotiwala and Nalagarh have been kept in the satisfactory category. That is, their condition is somewhat worse than the previous category. While Baddi is moderate. That is, the condition of Baddi’s air quality is worse than all these areas.
Shimla has the highest air quality index at 18, Sundernagar at 43, Parwanoo at 45, Manali at 47 and Dharamshala at 49. Among the satisfactory air quality zones, it was 55 in Dumtal, 70 in Nalagarh, 72 in Una, 77 in Kala Amb and 96 in Barotiwala. In Baddi it is moderate i.e. 163. The index of Delhi is 306. All the regions of Himachal Pradesh are better in Air Quality Index than other cities across the country.

Green cover in Himachal Pradesh is very good. This is also a big reason that polluting activities are less here. The National Green Tribunal and the State Pollution Control Board also keep a close watch on every activity here. The introduction of electric buses in Shimla city of Himachal Pradesh is also a good initiative in this direction. An official of the State Pollution Control Board said that even industrial areas like Baddi in Himachal Pradesh have a moderate index, which is much lower than Delhi.
