In a significant development, the Central government has released another installment of ₹325 crore for the Renuka Dam project. The funds have been directly credited to the project’s account and will primarily be used to clear the pending compensation for the displaced families.
Sharing the details, Khemsingh Thakur, the Project Manager, stated that the release of the ₹325 crore will expedite the ongoing processes. However, he added that the project still awaits further funding to gain momentum in the construction work.
As per the current estimates, the Renuka Dam project is expected to cost around ₹10,000 crore. It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the project on December 27, 2021. Since then, various administrative and technical formalities have been completed, and the availability of adequate budgetary support is now the primary requirement to commence the construction activities.
The Renuka Dam project is a significant infrastructure initiative that aims to address the water scarcity issues in the region. With the latest release of funds, the project is expected to gain traction and move closer to its realization, providing relief to the local communities.
